TRAINING AND RACING: The weather has been mostly cooperative so far this month. A little chilly or windy or wet but we were still able to get out every day. I guess the TriLewis bubble was over the track on Wednesday because it did not rain at all while we were there.
Mark and Jessica traveled to Naples for the half marathon on Sunday. We have at least 5 signed up for the Chilly Willy on February 5 and several registered for the Rock and Roll half on February 12. Good luck to all and keep us informed of how you do.

COZUMEL IM: There is still time to sign up! We will discuss the accommodations at the meeting Thursday.

Weekly Update  Coach Lewis Bennett | 1/8/2012 at 8:24 PM

TRAINING: Florida in January is a challenge. Last week we had some great mornings and some really cold mornings. Then there was Tuesday morning’s 40 mph gust. You just got to go out and do what you can. This week should be better with the help of a beautiful full moon.
ERIN’S ACCIDENT: Many of you have heard that Erin Westberg was hit by a car while riding on Gulf Boulevard Friday morning. She was just north of the Don in the bike lane when a car tuned right into a store and hit her. She has several broken ribs and is scheduled to have surgery on a badly broken clavicle on Monday. The driver of the car did not stick around to help - hopefully they will find out who it was. She will be a Bay Front for a few more days then will recover at home. Her helmet was totally mashed so fortunately her head was not. Be careful out there!
COZUMEL IM: And the list grows again - Joan, Leslie, Chuck, Robin, Lewis, Joel and now Scott. Just say yes ?
HITS OLYMPIC: This new race is on our club calendar for 3/24. It should be a lot of fun. Greg signed up for the half distance race on the 25th. There is a distance for everyone!
TRI CAMP: We received a few apps this week. Thanks! Please let us know this week if you are planning on attending or not. The camp dates are March 9-11. The cost is $225 and is inclusive the cabins, the NTC and meals.
JANUARY MEETING: Our meeting this month will be on Thursday 1/19. The location is still pending. It would be great to start the year out with a good turn out so we can discuss and plan the coming year.
AVAILABLE TRAINING:
TUESDAY BIKE REPEATS (0530 Hours) - Starting from the Sailing Center Parking lot on Gulf Boulevard, we generally do a mix of hill and fast flat repeats. Lights and helmets are required.

FRIDAY RUN (0530 Hours) - We will run from the Y doing a 5 to 6 mile tempo run with strides. Abs will follow.
SATURDAY RIDE (0630 Hours) - We are going to ride on the Suncoast Trail starting at Lutz Lake Fern Road.
SUNDAY RUN (0530 Hours) - An out and back run from Panera’s on West Bay Drive - You can pick your distance.

erin's recovery  Laurie Laurino | 1/8/2012 at 10:17 AM

Leslie, Joan and I visited Erin last evening at Bayfront Hospital. She is in good spirits, despite being bummed about how this might affect her training. We were all glad to know she will be okay. She is scheduled for surgery on Monday. Amy's parents are helping and Erin's mom is coming on Monday and will be in town for a week. I would like to see if we can help as a group with meals, etc. Any ideas are welcome.
